Presents

Presents

I found some large sheets of plain paper and made my wrapping paper – drawing and painting designs on the paper with inks and watercolor. The presents were tied with regular mailing cord. We had no tape or ribbon and there were no gift boxes. In fact, the boxes we received from home, which were in useable condition, were the ones we used to mail our items back to the States. There was literally no packing to be had through the usual channels.

In one of the boxes from home, they had sent me some artificial Christmas trees. One was about 3 inches tall and several ones about 1 inch tall. I added a Crèche I found in the department store and a couple of the small decorated and gilded shoes of the type left out for St. Nicholas by the French children. We felt festive, if only on a small scale.
