Patient Centered Design
Many patients and their families come to the hospital on one of the lowest moments in there lives. Patient Centered design factors in the phycial and emotional abilities of the people being served by the hospital. Many in pediatric helthcare care have observed the their patients don't drive themselves to the hospital. This dynamic means that the Rollie Pollie device should be simple and safe enough to be used around children and consider the phyical limitations of other family members or gardians. In fact, after extensive observation grandparents were much more common element in a childs support system that orginally assumed. Surprizingly, it was grandparents who requested most of the wheelchairs from the patient care techs staffing the main entry points such as the main lobby and emergency department.
